It is our life! We call it soil(她是我们的生命，我们称她为土壤，) It is the stuff, in which we toil(她是一种生产资料，是我们劳动的对象。) From soil we've sprung, to soil we'll go (从土壤中来我们已经繁荣兴旺，到土壤中去我们还会走向辉煌，) Protect the soil of this earth so we can grow(只有保护地球中的土壤我们才能茁壮成长。) From the podsols beneath snow drifts (从冰渍物下的灰壤，) To aridisols where few crops live(到不毛之地的旱成土。) Soil is as varied, as the rainbow(土壤就像一道彩虹变化多样，) And is as precious as a rainbow's pot of gold (她又像五彩缤纷的金碗一样珍贵异常) Some soils are dry, some soils are wet(一些土壤干燥缺水，一些土壤潮湿冷凉，) Some soils are fertile and from them high yields you get(我们也能从一些肥沃土壤中获得高产量。) But if you don't, give to the soil(但若不回报土壤) Then you will not reap a thing for all your toil (却会劳而无偿。) We study chelates, leachates and porosity (我们研究鳌合物、沥出液和空隙状况，) We learn our muck and peat and mineralogy (我们了解粪肥、泥炭和土壤矿物学特征。) Some study urban, some study rural(一些人探素都市土壤，一些人研究田园风光，) And we can tell just by the smell who's in manural (通过泥土的芬芳我们被告知世间万象。) Soils are just like, humanity(土壤和人类十分相像，) With yellow, brown, red, black and white, you'll see (你会看到黄棕红黑白多彩的模样。) That some are dull, and some are gray(无论那些色彩黑蚴蚴，还是那些色彩白苍苍，) And can fall prey to greed of man that's our decay(她会在人类贪婪的掠夺下沦落为退化的下场。) A living world beneath our feet(我们脚下一个活生生的世界，) It even lives , beneath our streets (甚至在街道下也有无穷活力的流淌。) With flora and fauna, so complete(生存的动植物区系群落种全类广，) That it can save us from the brownfields of defeat (她就是从废墟中拯救我们人类的土壤 。)
注：国际土壤科学联合会“土壤歌" (IUSS Soil Song) 首次刊出在2006年出版的国际土壤科学联合会公报( IUSS Bulletin 2006 , No.109 ) 上。该首歌由 " Boxturtle Bob" Chimside 作曲，由" Boxturtle Bob" Chimside 和 Alfred Hartemink 作词, 2006 年 7 月 15 日在美国费城举行的第18 届世界土壤科学大会闭幕式进行了首次演唱。该首歌曲调优美动听，歌词生动活泼，内涵丰富，对人们了解和认识土壤、合理利用土壤资源等具有重要作用。该歌曲由沈阳农业大学王秋兵教授译成中文，并刊登在《土壤通报》2007,38（4）上。
